Les Miserables is the most accurate book if you are looking to learn about the French Revolution. The novel helps explain what went on during that time period through numerous point of views. Les Miserables also provides many details about the politics that went on during the French Revolution. While the novel showed the poverty and starvation that people were facing, it helped progression occur towards a hopeful future because of France's dreadful past. Les Miserables was specifically written to show what was occurring during the French Revolution. Les Miserables encourages acts of love and compassion throughout the French Revolution and displays many other themes.
The Musical/Film
Les Miserables started off as a musical 28 years ago. Les Miserables mad its debut in Paris in 1980. The musical would end up winning 8 Tony awards and was said to be spectacular. The interpretation of the musical was very accurate but was shortened for time's sake.The musical has been produced all over the world and broke box office records. In December 2012 Tom Hooper's movie was brought to movie theaters. The film helps explain the themes of love, sacrifice, and redemption from Tom Hooper's view point. Tom Hooper's interpretation is considered one of the best of our decade and he has helped show what Les Miserable is really all about.
